Mimmy Lee just graduated from SEGi Subang Jaya. She loves art, facebook games, SIMS and recycling stuff. Recycling is big in Mimmy's books. While others are only just getting acquainted with the idea of bringing a reusable bag to the malls, she has been doing her shopping using such bags for about five years now.
"I have a facebook group that talks about anything and everything to do with recycling. It's called Recycle everything (^^,) plastic / glass / tins / paper. Here we discuss recycling issues and stuff about the environment.
"As for art, I love designing and would do a whole lot of research online before starting any project. I believe, to research is to prepare and equip oneself for whatever project.
"I blog sometimes but more about my personal life rather than art because I just started learning how to blog. Maybe, when I have enough artwork I might start another blog about my art."
Here's some of the stuff Mimmy has done so far;
Mydonuts
The artwork I did for my final project is on donuts. I feel that there is an affinity between Malaysians and donuts. Malaysians seem to love their donuts and maybe that's why we have so many different brands here.
Personally, I wanted to create some fun donut ads. First, I had to decide the name of my product and the colour of the logo I would use. After some research I named it mydonuts because it's easy to remember and it belongs to everyone, and ya, because when you say "my" it means yours, so it gives people the feeling of belonging, like the donuts belong to them.
Next, the choice of colour, which is very crucial in any form of design. I decided on a theme of white, red, brown and yellow. White, I used to signify purity; brown signifies warmth, comfort, plus a feeling of wholesomeness. Yellow represents fun and happiness, and red reflects strength, power, passion as well as a good appetite.
For the tag or catchphrase to my ad, I decided on: "Everyone loves mydonuts" because I wanted to bring the strong emotion of love to my donuts.
To "spread the love" I created a set of posters and postcard reflecting everyday life with mydonuts; you can be jamming with mydonuts just like the poster showing a lady with mydonuts on drums; you can cycle with mydonuts; you can fall in love under the sun with mydonuts and so on.
It's all about having much love surrounding you. Like the circle in the middle of the donut, with you in the middle; you are encircled by all that goodness and joy.
For the name card, I just had to do one in the shape of a donut of course. A totally yummy look, if I would say so myself.
Paperland - The Robotic Box
Paperland is my "robotic box" inspired by my love for the environment. I wanted to present a showcase where all students do something together and after the showcase all the stuff we used for the showcase must be able to be recycled.
I came up with designs for posters, flyers, invitation cards and so on, and all the other students helped in coming up with different parts of the robots. The showcase was a success and I was happy that at the end of the showcase nothing had gone to waste because we send everything for recycling.
