DRESSED to kill in a black organza Chanel gown with a plunging neckline, the ever-elegant songbird Camelia made a stunning entrance.
But guests at the Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) held earlier this year weren't really in awe of her Chanel number as most of them had already seen it in magazines and on the runway.
What they were admiring was the sparkler perched on Camelia's head. She topped off the evening garment with two rows of glittering diamante headbands.
Yes, hair accessories, from hairbands to headbands are back in fashion girls. Even dainty tiaras can be worn during special events (provided there's no real blue blood in attendance as protocol prohibits common heads wearing the tiara when a queen or a princess is around).
No longer restricted to royalty and beauty queens, the tiara is now for anyone.
This top-notch headpiece had even found its way into the world of sports!
Chicago Bulls' basketball player Dennis Rodman was once pictured several years back clad in a silver lame toga with a matching crown of diamonds and gold by Gianni Versace.
The honorable headdress has also been spotted on famous heads such as Hollywood stars Courtney Love, Amanda de Cadenet and Salma Hayek at the Oscars.
Apart from one-strand pearl necklaces and classic black Givenchy sheaths, the head-turning accessory is also said to be a favourite ornament of the late actress Audrey Hepburn.
Hepburn usually wore her collection of crowns to various glamorous events, and being stylish and chic, she knew exactly what to wear them with and what not to wear them with.
Worn at evening events to complement exclusive gowns, the regal tiara is, however, not to be outdone by her other cousins like shoulder-duster earrings or big, bold brooches.
Therefore, avoid over-accessorising when a crown or any other hair accessory is on your head.
The most coveted hair ornament right now is the punk-inspired spiked headband by Givenchy which was first seen on haute couture client Vanessa Traina, daughter of romance novelist Danielle Steel. Feathered ones that can be had from high-street labels like TopShop and Miss Selfridge are also cool and au courant just as the chain and coin retro-inspired ones favoured by Nicole Richie and Mary-Kate Olsen.
If you don't want to splurge on any of these, just flip any old necklace upright, pin into your hair and a crown comes true for you. All that's left is to escape into your own fantasy, whether to be a princess or Miss World!
