Last week, Malaysian Today published feng shui outlooks for the year 2010, looking to Jennifer Too for what's good, bad or ugly in this new year of the Tiger. This week, we look to another feng shui expert - Singapore-based Lynn Yap. In addition, we also take a quick look at the Virtual World of Feng Shui; wading through the World Wide Web to find out how the Internet has made Feng Shui even more accessible to the world, and especially to the young.
Yap is energetic, enthusiastic and frank with her predictions - her outlook for 2010 is filled with precautionary advice to weather through this tumultuous year. Speaking to her on the phone briefly, Malaysian Today gets a taste of what she has predicted for 2010, and has the following advice for the twelve animal signs:
2010
- It's a tiger year where the first lunar six months of the year belongs to "yang metal", while the latter half belongs to the "yang wood"
- Metal weakens the Wood thus causing difficulties and conflicts.
- The combination of "Geng and Yin" will make the Tiger year a year of natural disasters, financial difficulties, political unstability, legal matters and environmental matters - however, there is still good news for some animals signs!
The ROOSTER - Good year
- The combination of bad stars will create obstacles for you, though the presence of some good stars will help positive Roosters hurdle through the year.
- Work hard this year and the year will pass smoothly. When it comes to your health, take care of your bones and lungs. Go jogging or do deep breathing exercises each morning to circulate the qi in your body.
- On the $$$, there is money luck for you but they tend to fluctuate, so there are times of great windfall but also times when money runs dry.
- On a bright note, family relationships will go well this year, and single Roosters can look forward to some romance in the air!
The DOG - Good year
- As there are good stars lined for you this year, the days ahead of you should go swimmingly well, though it is wise not to make any rash financial decisions.
- Drive carefully, however!
- Health-wise, the tenacious Dog tends to work too hard, so try to listen to your body when it is tired, and rest up when you need to! And no, don't be stubborn - go see the doctor and you'll be as right as rain.
- In terms of relationships, do be careful of conflicts that could jeopardize your relationship - try to stay calm and perhaps wear a lucky charm in your partner's animal sign to ward off bad vibes.
The PIG - Excellent year
- Lucky those born in the year of the Pig! It is going to be a fantastic year for you both in career and in your wealth. Because of the presence of lucky stars, career, business and money luck are all very good. However, the pig has to be humble at all times if not others can get jealous and that can lead to problems.
- Money luck is extremely good and money can come from all places even when you least expect it like from the stock market or lottery. The money luck is strong and the career luck is in abundance; so job searching and interviews will go well for you.
- Your health is generally good, but be warned of excessive partying and late nights as it could take a toll on your energy.
- Singletons can also look forward to some good love-vibes; be mindful to always seek out those who care for you and love you, rather than letting your physical attraction take over you.
The RAT - Average year
- A bit of a mixed year is in store for the Rat. While work and studies will see a few obstacles, you do not have any hidden, malicious enemies waiting to bring you down, so fear not.
- However, be cash-savvy; money will not fall onto your lap and so each purchase or financial decision must be calculated and careful.
- And, health is great though the usual advise applies: Don't stay up too late and get plenty of rest. Also, Rats may tend to be rather emotional this year, so try to calm yourself down and think positive.
- Single and ready to mingle Rats should go ahead and do just that - there is romance in the air, but those who are in a steady relationship must stay away from temptations of a third, and more alluring, party.
The OX - Average year
- This is a year of stability and steadiness for the steadfast Ox. There will be few changes in both work, studies and family, but financial situations are uncertain, so be wise enough to hold back when the time comes. Be wary of any risks in terms of money.
- Work hard for your money, but be warned that over-exhaustion could bring you down. Still, beautiful flowers near your bed will attract the love-vibes in your direction, so singletons, brighten up your room with blooms.
The TIGER - Inauspicious year
- Sharpen your claws for this year, Tigers! This is not a good year for you. There would be many changes in all aspects of your life, so be mentally prepared to embrace them. People would find fault with you for nothing and so please avoid gossiping and lie low!
- However, a little good news is that there is some moolah for you this year - just be careful, take it easy and it will come to you.
- Be ultra careful behind the wheel!
The RABBIT - Excellent year
- Great money-luck and great health - this is the year for Rabbits.
- Be warned of third-party temptations, and don't allow the 'other person' to distract you from your steady.
The DRAGON - Average year
- A very average year that is marred by the presence of havoc-inducing unlucky stars - be very careful before going into any deals or agreements.
- Financial losses are imminent, so stay away from unnecessary risks. A way to stave this bad luck off is to be more generous and big-hearted with charitable donations and works, especially during the 15 days of Chinese New Year.
- Your health is not great this year. Rest early and see a doctor if there is anything wrong. Exercise regularly and avoid eating red meats this year. Family life is happy as long as you can control your bad temper.
- Hot-headed Dragons could stand to lose relationships or drive suitors away with their temper and tendency to be jealous, so cool off the flames!
The SNAKE - Good year
- While it is generally a better year for you than the previous one, you must be careful of thefts and robberies. Still, the year should be smooth-going for you, with a great achievement or opportunity in terms of career.
- Health is not too good, with a tendency towards the flu.
- All will be well at home and in any relationships, but singletons will have to guard against a Mr/Ms. Wrong in disguise as Mr/Ms Right.
The HORSE - Average year
- It will not be a smooth year, since there are too many bad stars aligned. Obstacles are piling up, so just be careful and go with it to weather it through.
- Money-wise, good news: You will see good fortune around you, and old investments will bear fruit. Don't over-spend, however!
- Health is generally good, but avoid water sports, there is danger there.
- Home life is content, and single Horses should, well, hold their horses before meeting Mr/Ms Right.
The GOAT - Good year
- Everything for you this year will stabilise and yes, there is good luck for you this year!
- While saving up a nest egg may turn out to be difficult, turn to banks to store away money for the future.
- You're not going to be in the pink of health this year.
- Mind your emotions in a relationship, as they can cause quarrels over nothing at all, and single Goats should go and pursue that crush, though watch out for the occasional parental squabble.
The MONKEY - Bad year
- The year of the Tiger clashes with you no matter what, so in all your endeavours, chances are, they will not be successful. Go with the flow would be the best advice for you this year, and lying low will help you weather through tough times.
- Be careful not to allow yourself to be financially drained, and do be doubly careful on the road, or when involved in any sports or activities. Your health is also not great this year.
