Celebrate Youth!

Less than ten days away to the biggest youth festival in the country and the excitement is palpable  as thousands and thousands of youth get ready to gather at Putra World Trade Centre for a festival of fun like no other. For the third year running, YOUTH '10 is set to be a huge success again.

Come May 28 to 30, the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) will be a-buzzing with activity as thousands of young people gather to celebrate the largest youth festival in the nation, YOUTH '10.

Already a success that saw tens of thousands of young people for two years running, YOUTH '10 is bigger, better and now aims to attract 70,000 youth to have fun and exchange ideas, thoughts and opinions with each other.

But not only that: YOUTH '10 is a hub of activity - from shopping to singing, there are hundreds of things to do; so much so three days may not even be enough to do them all!

Launched last week by Deputy Minister of Higher Education II, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, the premise of YOUTH '10 is simple yet impactful: To gather young minds and stimulate them as the future leaders of the country... in addition to having loads of fun, of course!

This is what Saifuddin points out as he said, "We find ourselves at a crucial point for the future of our youth today. The growing population of youth in Malaysia is proof of the significant power and impact that youth can make in this country. The Ministry of Higher Education fully supports YOUTH'10 and we believe that it will be the platform for our youth to dream and make their aspirations a reality."

Saifuddin also added that he is a strong believer of youth empowerment.

"I always believe that youth have three basic demands; they want their voices to be heard, their roles to be recognised, and their issues to be dealt with in the way that suit them. This is the mantra that I consistently embrace to engage with youth," he said.

Co-founder of YOUTH '10 and Executive Director of Youth Asia, Joel Neoh, said, "YOUTH'10 believes in the power of youth in Malaysia. With over 35 per cent of the nation's population being made up of young Malaysians aged between 15 and 35 years old, today's youth are undoubtedly in the position to make an impact in their communities and make a dynamic change of positivity within our nation."
