One of his strengths is in graffiti. Currently pursuing a Bachelor in Graphic Design at the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University (KLMU), Zaki Nordin, 24, is more known as "Escape" in the street arts stream. "Art is my escape..." says the former Malaysian Institute of Art diploma holder.

Speaking about his sketch artwork, he says he indulges in this form of art during his free time, "while waiting for the bus or any other place. I usually have some drinks and start sketching part by part, two to three hours at a go, mostly over three to four days. There's no rush to finish these pieces as I said, I do them at a leisurely pace... when I have time to spare."

For his graffiti works, he loves coming up with things that offer a 3D effect; things that seem to "pop" out. "Usually, I focus more on robotics - things mechanical and technological in nature. I concentrate on the lighting aspects and shadow placements, afterwhich I then start painting the wall.

"It's non-profit and I do it just for self-satisfaction. I love making things come out of the wall, or rather, create that illusion. I love it when people stop to have a second glance or have that lingering, confused look when they see my graffiti pieces."

As for other art forms, Zaki says he's the kind of person who's open to trying any new medium or art technique. "I dont limit myself to just one or two styles or approaches.  I want to learn and try it all... and that's why I involved myself in street art in the first place. I've also tried out custom merchandises, sketching, digital art and design in advertising.
