Dressed for "SEX"
  • Carrie Bradshaw

  • Samantha Jones

  • Charlotte York

  • Miranda Hobbes

With Sex and The City 2 movie coming to cinemas soon, many are gearing themselves up to watch the flick with friends. Some, are even planning to play dress up according to their favourite character. Here's a guide to looking like Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.

WHO: Carrie Bradshaw
WHAT: She almost became homeless because of her shoe addiction but it is her love for fashion that's made her the show's style star. What we love about her is that she's willing to take chances when it comes to couture. Remember the time Carrie wore a Heidi-inspired dress to lunch in New York's Central Park in The F**k Buddy episode? Although some thought the outfit, or costume rather, was way too outrageous, she was going for a picnic in the park afterall.
WEAR: Carrie's signature style is to wear a floral corsage (the bigger, the better) on a jacket's lapel or even on a cocktail dress. She also likes to carry quirky handbags. We especially love her horse head-shaped purse by Timmy Woods. You can also top off your ensemble with a stuffed bird on your head just as she did on her wedding day in the first movie. In other words, to dress like Carrie you'd have to have fun with fashion. Enjoy!

WHO: Samantha Jones
WHAT
: Over-the-top and sexy, Samantha's the epitome of the powerful and successful 80's woman. Bold and confident, we love Samantha for having the courage to wear colours, from lipstick red to electric blue, sometimes in one ensemble! Even in these hot tones, she'd bravely adorn herself in loud baubles and carry big, bright bags. Her fashion sense reminds one of Donatella Versace and Joan Collins.
WEAR: In-your-face fashion is what Samantha's all about. So, don't be afraid to slink into a leopard-print skin-tight dress and step into the highest heels in gold or sparkling silver. And, don't just wear one bangle but stack them up. Oversized hoop earrings are a must too. Lastly, slick-on that fire-engine red lipstick to complete the look.

WHO: Charlotte York
WHAT: Charlotte's got the most classic and ladylike style of all the characters. Her timeless fashion sense is appealing and alluring. Think of a black turtleneck worn with Capri pants and ballet flats. The bag to have? Something structured and hand-carried like the Lady Dior. She's the type guys would bring home to meet their moms.
WEAR: It's the most easy to mimic Charlotte's choice of clothing. You can opt to wear a pencil skirt with a twinset cardigan, or a floral summer dress. She's also often seen in sensible heels and the most feminine of handbags. Keep the hair, make-up and jewellery simple and low-key.

WHO: Miranda Hobbes
WHAT: She's a career woman in the Big Apple but does not dress like the typical New Yorker. While she enjoys wearing tailored suits, Miranda also likes to experiment. She's worn a batik top and pants in one of the episodes on TV. The on-screen lawyer, wife and mother also appreciates anything laidback like sweatpants and sneakers.
WEAR: The best way to channel Miranda's style is to wear a suit. Accessorise it with a double-strand pearl necklace and a cuff bracelet for that feminine-masculine contrast. Complete the look with an oversized envelope clutch in brown or burgundy.
