High Shine
Gold, silver, red and green may be the cool colours to wear this Christmas (in fact, every Christmas!) but why be predictable? Festive fashion can be adventurous, modern and edgy even. Here are some sure-fire suggestions for you to look stylish and standout in the Christmas crowd.
SPARKLE IN STYLE
Instead of gleaming gold or sassy silver, why not shine in sequins? Get a white tube dress swathed in sparkling sequins. Or, if you prefer something less showy yet statement-making still, accessorise your chosen attire with a beaded or sequinned scarf.
BRIGHT IDEA
The little black dress can be a tad boring. Worse still, you might blend in a sea of black dresses. Wear a bright colour such as deep purple, emerald green or electric blue. Vibrant tones can be very festive and best of all, they get you noticed. Plus, hot hues can lift the mood, something we all need especially during celebrations.
LOVELY LACE
Lace is not only feminine and romantic but we love it more because it's simply sexy. Even a lace shawl is enough to add allure and sensuality to your outfit, that is if you have reservations about wearing a full-lace blouse or dress.
STUDS, SATCHELS AND SOLES
Accessories never fail to add pizzazz to your personal style. What's in vogue now is a small, structured shoulder bag. Match the retro-style bag with killer heels with platform fronts to give you added height and a sexier gait. Also cool now is anything studded or spiked on bracelets, bangles, rings and earrings.
FASHION TRADITION
Celebrate the spirit of 1 Malaysia by slinking into an updated or modernised cheongsam, kebaya or sari to the Christmas soiree. Afterall, ethnic or traditional wear is always timeless and forever tres chic.
LONG AND LEAN
Guys take note. The maxi jacket spells high fashion this season. With a longer length, this style however requires the wearer to be tall for a streamlined look. If you don't have the height, stick to the classic suit in ash grey, navy or black.
IN PRINT
When it comes to prints and patterns, there is no limit. Look tough in lumberjack checks. Play it cool in stripes or squares. Have fun in buds and blooms. But remember, do not wear prints head-to-toe unless you want to look like Elton John.
WEAR IT LIKE BECKHAM
Don't just wear a shirt. Top it off with a nice sweater, sleeveless or otherwise. Follow the look of David Beckham who prefers to wear a pair of rugged jeans matched with a sweater, cardigan or vest. This laidback look is effortlessly stylish and uber cool.
BOW TIE
This is one accessory for guys that's often overlooked. Many feel it is formal and tedious. But the bow tie now can even be worn when you wear a shirt and jeans. It's an accessory that guarantees an up-to-the-minute appearance. Just be sure to buy the sleek, thin type and not the chunky, thick reto-style. If you prefer the latter, get a printed version instead of one in a solid shade.
HIGH SHINE
When it comes to shoes, shiny, patent ones are the way to go. A pair with a polished look, preferably with lace-up fastening, never fails to smarten up any wardrobe. Why, patent leather shoes can even be used when you're wearing jeans.
