HELP University College 30 Hour Famine Camp 2011

As an advocate of World Vision, a group of students from my university are organizing a DIY 30-HOUR Famine Camp  held on the 6th August and 7th August. 30 Hour Famine is a global movement against poverty and hunger. This year's theme is Child's Health. Statistics shows that every 2 minutes ,more than 30 children under the age of five will die. This is acceptable if we are talking about natural disasters, but those children, mainly from third world countries like Laos, North Korea,Thailand, India and Myanmar are dying because of preventable causes such as diarrhea, pneumonia and birth complications. Hence, we are trying to create awareness and also collect donations to help them. All donations collected will go to international and local beneficiaries.

This event is open to everyone above the age of 12. They can either join as a volunteer or a camper.

On the day itself, participants (campers) will starve for 30 hours without food. They will only be given mineral water. Of course, this idea might seem absurd to some , but nothing is impossible . There are games and activities throughout the whole day .On the seventh of August, campers will head to Bukit Jalil Stadium for the final countdown with the rest of the camps held throughout Malaysia.
