FACT student wins top prize at Animax's Fashion-Ability Grand Finale
HIGH drama unfolded at the Grand Finale
of Animax's "Fashion-Ability" event on 18 August 2007 as the top fashion design finalists and models bedazzled the audience and judges with their stunning creations and talent. The winner, Dennis Lee Yun Peng who is currently a student at FACT [Fashion Academy of Creative Technology] doing a Diploma in Fashion Design took home a generous RM29,500 worth of education scholarships and grants. According to Melvin Lam, Managing Director of FACT, "We are extremely proud of Dennis. For us this is again a manifestation of how excellent our programmes in fashion design are with our students winning awards again and again". The Animax's "Fashion-Ability", sponsored by Bausch & Lomb, is the first-ever fashion design competition held by Animax in Malaysia. Inspired by Paradise Kiss, an intriguing anime series about fashion students and their spectacular creations, finalists were required to create their anime-inspired designs with butterflies or floral motifs - themes that are prominent in the anime series. Held at 1-Utama Shopping Centre,the Grand Finale of Animax's
"Fashion-Ability" was an apt culmination to the month long competition which had attracted numerous
applicants from colleges and learning institutions from all corners of Malaysia.The judges at the Grand Finale included leading fashion designer Bill Keith; award winning make-up artist Taymie Chin; fashion
crazed blogger Joyce Wong; and Bausch & Lomb Marketing Manager Jenny See. The fashion designs were judged based on the originality, creativity and overall presentation of the idea with online votes and workmanship rounding up the rest of the judging criteria."As the premier youth entertainment channel in the region, Animax seeks to inspire youths to follow their dreams and "Fashion-Ability" is part of our commitment to provide the platform for youths to express their creativity and talent in one area of their passions, which is fashion. year for our students with them winning the Nokia D'Armour Competition and NONA fashion competition as well. These wins will establish and secure the reputation of these individuals in the fashion industry and assist them with their career options in the future.The whole point at FACT is to allow students creativity to blossom as well as provide them with a solid educational framework for success. Our latest efforts include offering a Certificate in Business Studies award which will cover the
