Packaging and rebranding, breathing life into otherwise mundane-looking products, and infusing a measure of excitement to them is what Eric Tanzil, a Visual Communications Major of Raffles International is good at.
For his final year project, 20-year-old Eric, from Indonesia, came up with what he termed as B'art.
"The B in this word stands for Bicycle. With B'Art, I hope to inspire people to use the old but trusty bike to shape up; get back into form in every way - get the body toned again, ensure that the world is less clogged up by the fumes and carbon monoxide. We need to save ourselves and we need to "re-cycle" what we can, recycle the old as we cycle our bike into a new, brighter future.
"Yes, as much as possible, let's make the bicyle of old, our choice "vehicle" to move forward. This way, we can start a new cycle towards a new, healthier us, while we save the world..."
Here are some of Eric's B'ARt pieces, as well as other "innovations" of his.
The Luxurious Bike
Simple has turned into stylish sophistication with the addition of a few really shiny stones. This bike has been incorporated with some bling - Swarovski crystals - which have been used for the frame. Why Swarovski? It's to entice people to take another look at the bicycle with new eyes.
Publication Design
I try to lend the University of Kingston magazine
a neat and simple feel about it.
This publication's main goal is to further appeal
and entice youths who are already interested in wanting to know more about this place of higher education.
The Uturis Bike
This is a bike that comes with a futuristic design and offers some space in the middle of the bicycle frame. The space allows you to store all your valuables.
Advance Page Layout
Vossen is the name of the furniture company in China. I had to redesign a book catalogue for this company.
Leather was used for the cover to lend a feel of luxury while red horizontal strips were used to enhance the logo.
Glass Packaging
Traffic wear is what I have named this packaging design. I called it so because
of its shape: it looks like a traffic light. The parcel contains small glasses for the children's market.
At the back of the package, there is a small "city" animation, complete with buildings and cars.
2008 Calendar
This calendar is presented in a vintage style - a lot of brown and off colour nuances.
Here, I tried to get a blend between the television and a calendar.
Season Different 4 Taste
Forte's logo is made of a material that has a delicate aluminium texture. The box contains four bottles of wine for one to enjoy the different tastes provided by the four seasons.
