After a successful inaugural awards last year, Time Out KL and KL Photo Awards is calling for entries for their second KL Photo Awards. As in the previous year, the judges will be seeking to unearth new talent and vision from emerging and established artists alike. For the 2010 event, there will no longer be a distinction between Professional and Non-Professional categories. Instead, entrants may submit portraits either as Individual entries or as a Story. In the Individual Portrait category, the judges will be looking at overall technical skills, composition and challenging aesthetics in a single, stand alone portrait that rises above the rest.
The Portrait Story category is added to enable photographers to enter portraits in a series, along with accompanying narrative. Identifying strong visual narrative that speaks to the viewer is a criterion the judges will be seeking in this category, as artists that use photography creatively rather than camera operators will be rewarded. We feel that understanding the processes of an artist and his or her ability to bring concept to fruition in a series of pictures exemplifies the creativity in the art.
The KL PHOTOAWARDS 2010 is open to all photographers, over 14 years of age, from full time students, enthusiasts, semi-professional to professional photographers.URL: www.klphotowards.com

Laugh your way to some serious cash - no, we mean it! Fly FM is waiting to hear you laugh your way to RM 60,000!Fly FM's announcers are on the heat to give away cash to their listeners - and the mechanics of the game is simple: Listeners are to text in 'cash' to 33399 in the cash call hour.
They must then wait for the announcers to call them back and upon answering the phone, they will have to laugh their guts out till they hear the sound of a cash register machine or the money siren sound effects. And once that sweet sound of money rings true in your ears, chances are you would have just won a chunk out of the RM60,000!
It is that simple, so everyone can be a winner... and earn some sweet dough to boot. Just keep your phones on stand-by mode in your hands. So start listening with a clear ear to your favourite station and you'll never know, you might just be the lucky one to win a whole lot of moolah.

Glitter & Silk is an exhibition of Chinese opera costumes from the 1950s and 1960s. In Cantonese opera, the costumes are the most visually arresting and elaborately designed elements which are seen on the stage. For live stage performances the backdrop and props are sparse, with much of the scene setting left to the audience imagination or subtle hints given by the performers.
The costumes are colourful, eyecatching and draw the focus onto the performer who conveys every last detail of the story with a dramatic flurry of fabric.
